Hi Everybody: Earthquake Update
I feel a responsibility to give you this update as I first discussed a (possible) earthquake warning in one of my earlier blog posts on Extreme Nature (see list at right).
It is not possible to predict an Earthquake Event. If you said there is going to be an earthquake today, your prediction would likely be true as earthquakes occur all the time. However, some have seen a pattern that a significant (over 7) earthquake has been occurring at intervals of approximately every 188 days which is close to the time of the vernal equinox and/or autumnal equinox.

Just my opinion overview: loosely based on similar ideas, several people predicted a significant earthquake event around the 21 to 23 of March, 2012. Several have focused on March 22, 3012 (tomorrow in rt). An Earthquake did occur yesterday March 20, 2012 in Mexico. (see below information). The great news is No Loss of Human Life due in part from early warning systems locally in place. Due in part to greater awareness of the population living in known seismic zones. Inform yourself about your area (especially coastlines that could be affected from tsunami).
225,000 died in Japan last year on March 11.

Earthquakes are a frightening experience for the more than 20 million residents who live in the sprawling metropolis, where about 10,000 people perished after a massive quake in 1985.

"The epicenter of the quake was in the Oaxaca Region of Mexico," NASA spokesman Rob Gutro at the agency's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., wrote in a statement. #The epicenter was located 25km (15 miles) east of Ometepec, Guerrero; 42 km (26 miles) north-northwest of Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca; and 186 km (115 miles) east of Acapulco, Guerro, Mexico."
A satellite orbiting Earth snapped a clear view of Mexico from space today (March 20), just minutes after a major earthquake struck the country's southwestern region.
The GOES-13 satellite image shows Mexico as it appeared at 2:15 p.m. EST (1815 GMT), only 13 minutes after a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck the country, though initial reports set it at a 7.6 magnitude, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

EARTHQUAKES
One of the most frightening and destructive phenomena of nature is a severe earthquake and its terrible aftereffects. An earthquake is the sudden, rapid shaking of the earth, caused by the breaking and shifting of subterranean rock as it releases strain that has accumulated over a long time.
For hundreds of millions of years, the forces of plate tectonics have shaped the earth, as the huge plates that form the earth’s surface slowly move over, under and past each other. Sometimes, the movement is gradual. At other times, the plates are locked together, unable to release accumulated energy. When the accumulated energy grows strong enough, the plates break free. If the earthquake occurs in a populated area, it may cause many deaths and injuries and extensive property damage.
While earthquakes are sometimes believed to be a West Coast occurrence, there are actually 45 states and territories throughout the United States that are at moderate to high risk for earthquakes including the New Madrid fault line in Central U.S.
The 2011 East Coast earthquake illustrated the fact that it is impossible to predict when or where an earthquake will occur, so it is important that you and your family are prepared ahead of time.

This concludes the earthquake update. Again, I tell you I am no authority on anything. I am passing on news and advice to learn the area you live in and monitor your location.
