Field Trip Tonight to a Volcano (Anak Krakatau Volcano Photo Blog)

Hi Everybody!!
Considering the extreme nature of Volcanoes, most of us are lucky we do not live close to one. It is highly unlikely I will ever seen one in South Texas. The first week in September, Anak Krakatau had a significant eruption. I found a video on You Tube of this eruption so we all can see a Volcano in action.
I found a video uploaded by David Udbjorg on September 11, 2012. It seems he went on a boat to the volcano to bring us photos of what it looks like now after the explosion. I find this so amazing. I would not want to go there, but I am thankful for the video David created to share with the world.

So come on in and Welcome to all. For our mini-nature class field trip tonight we are going to a volcano.

Krakatoa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Krakatoa (IndonesianKrakatau) was a volcanic island situated in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra in the Dutch East Indies (modernIndonesia). The name is still used for the surrounding island group and the volcanoas a whole. The Krakatoa volcano exploded in 1883, killing an estimated 36,417 people. The explosion is considered to be the loudest sound ever heard in modern history, with reports of it being heard up to 3,000 miles (4,800 km) from its point of origin. The shock wave from the explosion was recorded on barographs around the globe.
Currently, the Krakatoa volcano has re-emerged from the ocean, and is the principal force in the on-going formation of a new island, Anakrakatoa, or "Child of Krakatoa".
