Dont Be Afraid--Come IN--It is a Good Thing (A Spider Photoblog and Bonus Ballet)

Hi Everybody!  Please Come in!

Good Evening.  Did anybody make it in past the entrance where there were spiders on the window??? Very good, I am proud of you.  I promise my spiders here will not harm you in this digital image form!  Why are we humans afraid of Spiders? Has a spider ever done anything to you? Likely not. There are movies and other media that use spiders to shape our fears. I am not going to tell you not to be afraid, rather discover why you are fearful.

I have discovered that things are less scary if we educate ourselves about non human life forms!  So, just for today, try to look at the photostudy and see something maybe you have never seen before.
Most spiders (female) weave a web and wait for something to come flying by and get stuck on it. Usually some kind of flying insect. In your photostudy tonight, you will see that an insect has landed on the web. As soon as the spider detects the vibrations, she runs up to the insect and begins to wrap him up with her silk. She keeps spinning and wrapping until the insect is completely covered up and can no longer move. Then she takes a little break and cleans up. She returns to the package for her dinner. She sucks the fluid out of the insect who dies in this process. It is really pretty interesting!

After your photostudy, for your bonus is a video of a spider weaving a web. (This is one of the first videos I made, so please do not judge too harshly!) What engineers these spiders are. Enjoy!
